Destiny Beta Release Date Announced

Bungie and Activision have announced the Destiny beta release date as well a number of collector’s editions for pre-order participants.

The Destiny beta will finally be released on consoles this month according to Activision Publishing. The beta will include a variety of major activities found in the full game and is guaranteed to be available to those who pre-order the game.

The beta will launch on PS4 and PS3 on July 17 and, according to Activision, it will require Playstation Plus to access some features. The beta will be then be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on July 23 and will require Xbox Live Gold to play although this requirement is subject to change.

In-between releases the game will be shut down for maintenance starting on July 21 and ending the next day. The beta will run until July 28.

Also announced are the Destiny collector’s editions available for pre-order: The Limited, Ghost, and Digital Guardian Editions.

The Limited Edition will include the following:

Limited edition SteelBook Case and Game Disc
Early access to the Vanguard Armoury weapons and gear and an exclusive Vanguard player emblem
Guardian Folio:
- Arms & Armament Field Guide
- Postcards from the Golden Age
- Antique Star Chart
Digital Content Pack:
- Unique Ghost Casing
- Exclusive Player Emblem
- Exclusive Player Ship Variant
Destiny Expansion Pass – access to two post-launch expansions:
- Expansion I: The Dark Below
- Expansion II: House of Wolves
- PlayStation platforms will also include additional content for Expansion I and II that will remain exclusive until at least Fall of 2015

The Ghost Edition will include everything in the Limited Edition as well as:

Ghost replica featuring voicework by Peter Dinklage
Letter of Introduction
Golden Age Relics, which include a Photo, Patch, Sticker and two Chrome slides of the Traveler
