Proteus Port For PS3 and Vita!!!

Proteus Port For PS3 and Vita!!!

The Proteus Port will include innovative and unique features for each system it’s porting to!

Yup, you read that title right, The hit indie title which won the 2011 indiecade award for best audio, Proteus, is getting a full enhanced version of the game ported to Sony’s Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita systems. Both versions will be available for digital download on the Playstation Store this October with each version of the port coming with unique features!

The biggest new features are the ability to create entirely new islands. On the Vita, you can create a unique island based on your geographical location and on the PS3 port, you can create islands based on the date. These islands will be more vivid due to constantly shifting colour palates to create a more surreal feel and in the Vita port, you can interact with the island with the back touch screen by remixing the colour scheme with your touch.

“Curve are doing a fantastic job on the port, adding a lot of love and polish along the way. I’ve already had a really positive reception to people who have seen the PlayStation version and I’m really happy about how the new features enhance the game.”

For those of you who haven’t got a clue what Proteus is, it’s an open world game with a big emphasis on exploration rather than completing set objectives. The game world is procedurally generated like minecraft and has a similarly infinite amount of possible world designs. The game’s biggest draw however is its ability to convey where you are through its soundtrack. Every object, however insignificant, has its own musical anthem that plays when you interact with it. These sounds all blend together and end up making the background soundtrack as procedurally generated as its world. It received critical acclaim from every site that reviewed it hence all the fuss about it getting a port.
