The Evolving World of Defiance

The Evolving World of Defiance

Trion World latest game, Defiance, is out now and with it comes its very own television series.

Defiance is an online open world shooter set after the year 2023. Players take control of an Ark Hunter, a treasure collector, as they search Earth for Ark technology from the Votan wars. The Votan immigrated to Earth from space to live among the human race. Not everyone found the Votan friendly and war broke out.

One interesting feature about both the the game and the television series is they coincide with each other. Events that take place in the game will also take place in the show. Now, your character won’t be in the show but the cool thing is what your character experiences during your playtime, you can see from a different perspective.

Players can face the wasted landscape of Defiance alone or in a group. During the war the Votan blew up their ships around Earths orbit and debris fell to the surface. You are an Ark Hunter, a scavenger, relic seeker, and killing machine. Search through the debris to find Ark technology and use it to your advantage to defeat the Votan. Earth was changed after the war; terraforming changed the planet and made room for monstrous creatures to roam the land. The skyline shifted and the planet is a dirty forgotten waste.

Defiance also has more than 1,000 guns that Ark Hunters can use against the enemies of the world.

The game is open world and includes special dynamic events that trigger during gameplay. Wreckage from the Votan ships in orbit will fall periodically to Earth. It is at the crash site of these events where the fun begins. Players can find themselves searching the wreckage alone or defend the Ark tech from a small task force of enemies. During major arkfalls the player will have to fight off a horde of baddies.

Defiance looks great on gaming consoles as well as a television series. It is out now for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
