Sony announces virtual reality system Project Morpheus

Sony has officially announced what looks to be the latest innovation in gaming. Sony showed off Project Morpheus, a virtual reality system which may perhaps be the future of gaming. And as you might expect when you hear the words “virtual reality” it gives you that feeling that you really are in the game world.

Project Morpheus puts you in the 3D world and as you move your head you can see the world and hear the different sounds all around you. It immerses you in the world. You put on the Morpheus, as it’s somewhat like putting on a visor. Think of it like a visor that you would wear on your head and a visor that Geordi LaForge of Star Trek wore on his eyes. That’s basically what this looks like.

Also, if you have PlayStation Move, your PlayStation Move will actually be an object in the game. For example, say if Skyrim supported this, and you held your PlayStation Move in real life, in the virtual reality it would be a sword. It’s a bit wild.

Shuhei Yoshida, President of SCE Worldwide Studios, had this to say about Prject Morpheus:

“At SCE we view innovation as an opportunity to build on our mission to push the boundaries of play. Project Morpheus is the latest example of innovation from SCE, and we’re looking forward to its continued development and the games that will be created as development kits get into the hands of content creators.”

Personally, I’m looking forward to hearing more and actually trying it out for myself. It’s interesting, I can’t help but be a bit skeptical and think it might be a much, but I’m intrigued about it. What about you guys? What do you guys think of Project Morpheus. Let us know in the comments below.
