The last chance for delegates to take advantage of the early bird discount for BAF Game 2013 is this Friday, 18th October. To coincide with the deadline, festival organisers are delighted to make the following final exciting programme announcements this week.
The final guests to be announced for BAF Game 2013 include Martin Binfield, Animation Lead at Mode 7 Games, the company behindFrozen Synapse. Martin will attend the festival for an in depth talk on the development of their follow up project entitled ‘Frozen Endzone: Creating an Animation System from Scratch’. James Marsden, Chris Goff, Jack Hamilton and Callum Roberts from award-winning indie game studio Futurelab will also be at BAF Game 2013 to discuss ‘The Power Of 2D’, demonstrating their approach to making a desirable PlayStation 4 game, Velocity 2X, with a tiny team.
Guests already announced for BAF Game 2013 include legendary designer and producer Warren Spector (System Shock, Deus Ex, Disney Epic Mickey); acclaimed developer Mike Bithell (Thomas Was Alone) Crystal Dynamics’ Brian Horton (Tomb Raider); ZeniMax Media’s Viktor Antonov, (Dishonored);Sheffield development studio Sumo Digital’s Steve Lycett (Sonic & All- Stars , Moshi Monsters), TT Games’ Phil Gray (LEGO Marvel Super Heroes); The Indie Stone’s Andy Hodgetts, (Project Zomboid) and Team 17’s Kevin Carthew, (Worms Revolution).
Jamie Sefton, Programmer, BAF Game says:‘’This year’s BAF Game promises to be the biggest and most exciting event yet, with games animators, producers and game creators discussing the art and craft of some of the industry’s biggest titles including ‘Dishonored’ and ‘Tomb Raider’.
BAF Game has a reputation for attracting some of the biggest and most revealing speakers and sessions from across the world. Headline guests from the past couple of years have included Neil Thompson, Director of Art & Animation at Canadian giants BioWare, who caused a media storm last year when he teased guests with a brief glimpse of the first pre-production screenshot of Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. And in 2011, Brendan McNamara, founder of Team Bondi, the creators of L.A. Noire, exclusively revealed details of his upcoming big budget console game Whore of the Orient in an interview with Eurogamer.
BAF Game takes place as part of the Bradford Animation Festival (12th – 16th November) each November at the National Media Museum and University of Bradford. The UK’s longest running animation festival features screentalks, retrospectives, workshops and a competition strand which recognises the very best in new animation from around the world. Bradford College return as Principal Sponsor for the eighth year.
