The Swapper revealed for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita
Award-winning puzzle game, The Swapper, will be launching on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in May 2014. Originally released to great critical acclaim for PC in 2013, The Swapper sees players take control of an explorer on a damaged space station who can clone himself up to four times to solve puzzles and progress throughout the craft.
The Swapper, developed by Curve Studios, and published by sister company, Curve Digital, will be cloning its way across to Sony systems as a digital-only title this May.

The unique art-style utilises materials such as clay to create an environment different to anything else available on Sony systems.
Available on all current Sony systems, the title is fully cross-compatible, with transferable save data between the systems, and, most importantly, only one purchase required to play the game on all three systems.
The announcement of The Swapper for PSN comes at the conclusion of a month of revelations by Curve Digital, including Stealth Inc. Ultimate Edition, MouseCraft and Titan Invasion, all for Sony systems.
First released for the PC by Facepalm Games in Finland, the game was originally started as a project by two University of Helsinki students, Otto Hantula and Olli Harjola, who have remained part of the development team throughout the original production, and the current Curve Digital port of the game.
CLONING AND BRAINTEASERS
The game sees players explore Theseus, a damaged space station, utilising the explorer’s unique cloning ability to overcome a range of obstacles and puzzles.

The inclusion of up to four clones adds a new gameplay element to the already-crowded puzzle game market.
The player is able to produce up to four clones of the explorer, which can be swapped between (hence the name) to help solve puzzles barring the way.
The Managing Director at Curve Digital, Jason Perkins, had the following to say about The Swapper:
“The Swapper highlights everything great about modern indie games – it’s polished, its mechanics seem simple but provide a great deal of depth, and it touches on themes and narratives that triple-A games rarely explore.”
Theseus, a dark and highly immersive environment, was created in a highly unusual style, utilising hand-crafted materials, including clay, to create the game world. The result has been described by Curve Digital as “unlike anything ever seen before on a PlayStation platform.”
Olli Harjola, one of the original creators of the game remarked:
“The reception of The Swapper blew me away when we launched on PC last year, and it’s really exciting to be able to launch the game to a brand new group of gamers on PlayStation.”
The game will be released in May 2014 for Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and PS Vita as a digital download-only title.
