Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD will be hitting consoles, whilst Assassin’s Creed Pirates will be sailing on to smartphones and tablets.
The two new titles were announced at Ubisoft’s Digital Days event this week, with both titles due out over the next few months.
Liberation HD will be a console and PC port of the critically-acclaimed PS Vita title Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation. The game features the franchise’s first female character, Aveline, and is set in 1765 New Orleans as Spanish forces are plotting to seize control of Louisiana. As expected, Aveline is as assassin who’s determined to stop the Spanish in their tracks. The game includes a wide variety of settings, including the hustle and bustle of New Orleans as well as eerie Mayan ruins and swamplands. Liberation HD will take advantage of the capabilities of the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC’s with a complete revamp of the graphics, re-mastered sound and music and extra missions to delve even deeper into the culture of New Orleans and the character of Aveline herself.
The original release of Liberation on PS Vita was one of the biggest blockbuster titles that the handheld has been treated to so far, and the game was widely popular amongst both players and critics, so there are high expectations for the new release when it hits this fall.
Assassin’s Creed Pirates is an original standalone title for smartphones and tablets which will link closely with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Players will take the role of a young pirate captain called Alonza Batilla. Players will have to manage the crew, upgrade the ship and engage in large-scale naval battles in order to become the most feared pirate of all time, while all the time trying to keep an eye on the time of day: whether its day or night will have a big impact on the game. And, of course, no pirate game would be complete without treasure, and players will have to try and claim the lost treasure of La Buse. The game will be fully 3D and run on a brand new engine special designed for Pirates which should allow the creators to do exactly what they want with the game.
Both Liberation HD and Pirates will be released later this year as digital downloads for their respective systems.
