The GUILD02 collection also featured some masterworks by some of the gaming industries my respected game creators. Akihiro Hino, the President and CEO of Level-5 had this to say about Kaz Ayabe, a veteran game developer that is working on the game,

Attack of the Firday Monsters will be Ayabe’s first original work released outside of Japan, giving Western players a opportunity to play some of Ayabe’s work for themselves. Kaz Ayabe, the CEO and a game designer of Millennium Kitchen, had this to say about the game,

This unconventional game takes place in Tokyo in 1971, 42 years ago from today. Back then, giant monsters (kaiju) appeared routinely on a specific day of every week in Japan– that is, the world inside the TV shows “came to life.” For children of the time, it was an invaluable extension of everyday life. I tried to create the childhood dream of living in this world as a compact game with a certain level of satirical poignancy. The courage we muster in times of distress and our tolerance towards other people is important in any age. We created this game so players can relive that wonderful time where no one questioned the values of those innocent years of your childhood.

guild02-attack-of-the-friday-monsters-a-tokyo-taleAttack of the Friday Monsters puts players in control of a young boy, Sohta, and experience the life of Tokyo’s suburbs from the eyes of a kid. Playing as Sohta, who comes from a family of dry cleaners, you will have to interact with all of the towns residents to reveal mysteries that surround the appearing of a giant monster every Friday. The game will also feature in-game tradings cards, named “Monster Cards”, that the player will be able to collect, combine, and battle with other children with the goal of become the “boss” of them. If the player is able to become the “boss” they will be able to gain information that will lead them to where they are suppose to go next.

Attack of the Friday Monster is a drama that surrounds family, friendships, and the innocence of being a child as the story takes place across hand-drawn backgrounds, with charming music and unforgettable characters. Attack of the Friday Monster is now available in Europe for the 3DS on the Nintendo eShop costing ₤7.19.
