Heavy Water announced the Kickstarter campaign for Axis Game Factory, a toolkit which will allow gamers to create and share their own games. There are products similar to this in terms of giving players models and physics to play with, such as Minecraft and Garry’s Mod, but they are a bit more involved if you are trying to create a game without a lot of game design knowledge. Axis Game Factory will allow gamers without coding experience, 3D modeling experience, or industry experience to create games.
The kit for Axis Game Factory will provide a host of assets including NPCs, cameras, weapons, and props. The campaign is looking for $400,000 in funding, and has about 21 days to go. Matthew Bennett, Associate Editor of Electronic Gaming Magazine wrote yesterday, “The whole thing took me around three hours to create once I decided how I was going to do it… Once I had the basic idea down it was just a matter of slotting the assets together. The great thing is that all the complex parts such as collision and animation are already taken care of by the software, it’s just a matter of placing objects where you want them to go. I have absolutely no coding or game design experience and I was able to put this together quickly and easily, which pretty much proves that Heavy Water’s claims are true.”
