Blizzard Announces Diablo 3 for PlayStation 4

diablo3You heard right. During Sony’s PlayStation conference Blizzard announced Diablo 3 is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

Although details were scarce, the port will be based off of the PC version and will include all the recent upgrades, including Paragon leveling, etc. Blizzard got its start developing for consoles before it became the PC giant it is today, and they assured the audience that the remodeled user interface and control scheme will suit the PlayStation systems well. Also revealed, Diablo 3 will feature 4 player co-op without split screen.

More details, and a playable demo, will be revealed during PAX East in March.

[box type=”info” head=”Writer’s Opinion“]Personally, I don’t like it. My main concern is that any future PC changes to Diablo 3 will always have the caveat of ” how will this affect consoles.” I don’t think it’s a far leap to assume some awesome changes might not make it to PC because of the limitations of our console friends. Second off, I just can’t imagine playing Diablo with anything other than a mouse and keyboard. Hence I am very skeptical about the modified user interface and control schemes. Also, why is Diablo 3 going to be available on both the PlayStation 3 and 4? I know Diablo 3 is not that graphically intense, but it makes me wonder about the hardware upgrade the PlayStation 4 is bringing to the table. My final reflection, the PlayStation 3 always seemed to get bad news when it came to new releases. Take Skyrim for example, they just got the DLC working and the game has been out forever. I don’t know if the PlayStation 3 was harder to program for or what, but I hope the PlayStation 4 doesn’t suffer from the same issues. What do you think about the reveal? Are you excited to play Diablo 3 on a console system? Let us know in the comment section below.[/box]
