Treyarch, the makers of the Call of Duty Black Ops and its upcoming sequel, have released addiction information about the game, stating that the story is being written by Trent Reznor, the man who brought us “Batman: The Dark Knight”, to create a well developed and immerse story.
Reznor said that “I look at video games as a true art form, the chance to be involved in something like this is exciting to me. I feel it is every bit as viable as film work or music.”
Reznor brings his own style to the game to make the player feel more involved and to meet the boundary were videos games and blockbuster movies give the same amazing effect. He goes on to say ” The games have gotten more intense and more realistic and more ingrowing and deeper. Video game culture has expanded into the largest form of entertainment”
Does this mean that as more and more talent from different industries like film, that games as a whole will become a much higher in-storytelling and in the immersion of its audience. With films copying action scenes from games have we reached a point in which our medium is on scale with high budget movies.
Black Ops 2 looks to be a enervation in game-play and story telling for a first person shooter that puts you into the lives of the characters. Hopefully this game will be able to bring what the developers have said it would with there game.
