LARA CROFT AS THE HUNTER!

We’ve covered an extensive amount of news and written articles from the latest Tomb Raider game here at einfogames, recently following along the video documentaries developer Crystal Dynamics have amazingly shared leading up to its near release. We’ve covered the origin, sound design, multiplayer mode and our heroine Lara Croft and her incredible will of survival.

IN THIS FINAL WEB SERIES PART ONE, we follow the host Zachery Levi who people may heard of him from the TV series Chuck into the walls of Crystal Dynamics as the entire team pushes their way to put the finishing touches and fixing last minute bugs on the final product, which they indeed to ready to ship in a matter of days.

FIRST WE ARE GREETED BY KARL STEWART, the Global Brand Director of Tomb Raider. He explains they have invited critics and fans into the studio to check out the upcoming game, showing live streams with Q and A sessions with some of the development team. He explains of course they had to securely place the room far away from the development area from the building, as they have top secret projects in the works they obviously don’t want to reveal, as of yet.

Next, we are transported to the other side of the building where the development team are hard at work, putting those last minute polishes to Tomb Raider. We are now sitting with Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio for Crystal Dynamics. He explains the team is working hard to fix any bugs or glitches that still exist before the game is ready to be shipped.

Darrell himself mentions has been pressed on creating the new Tomb Raider game for 4 years now, as many of the development team have as well. Much change happens during that time, but they all grow together and closer like a family.

WE FOLLOW SENIOR PRODUCER KYLE PESCHEL with Zachery now where he explains the team has been split and prioritised in completing the most importance aspects of Tomb Raider – since they plan to ship the game in 4 ½ days time!

One of those split groups he mentions is called OMS – I’ll let you watch the video to figure out what it means! But he explains he wants amazing reactions when the team creates a set piece in the game to show. Kyle specifically goes into detail about not necessarily wanting explosion after explosion as say a Call of Duty would have, but more realistic and surreal moments, making us the player believe we are in that situation Lara is unfortunately in.

We then listen to a small conversation with Creative Director, Noah Hughes – who explains the frustration of creating and animation Lara Croft’s hair, and making it look realistic as possible as she climbs cliff faces, ventures in dark caves and more.

WE ARE LASTLY SHOWN a stats table with a list of bugs that need to be fixed with a twelve day timer, although they need to ship the game out in four days! Can they do it time? In part II we shall find out!

I've been a gamer since the NES days where I still love my retro games today. I'm an all-rounder when it comes to genre but my favorite types are story-driven games. I'm pretty competitive when it comes to playing online so be sure to bring it!
