Dance Central 3 First Impressions :Take Centre Stage

Dance Central 3 Is Almost Here

We have just over a week until the release of the third edition to the Dance Central series “Dance Central 3”. I can finally give my first impression on the game having had the chance today to spend a good few hours on it. I had played it prior to today but only a quick go at various gaming events which was not enough time to identity the selling points of the game.

I can only really focus on a few of the features in this article since I spent all the time in dance mode perfecting one of the tracks. The menu system was improved in Dance Central 2 – they added voice control and ‘Break it Down’ which they have brought into Dance Central 3. These features are used in the rehearsal mode to help you grasp each move step by step. What I did notice, which is a very small detail but makes a massive difference is, the learning of the routine is not as long winded, and flows nicely. There was far too many unnecessary breaks in the last 2 titles and this has been cut right down.dance-central-3

When you perform the full track, the routine is along the lines of how you rehearsed it, which I think is great. In the last 2 games the performance mode can be very confusing. You spend a good 20 minutes learning moves in one order, then when you come to preform the full track the moves suddenly come at you in a completely random order. I will have to play more tracks to make sure this new improvement has been added to all the new songs.

From the main menu I saw new modes such as story mode and throw down mode. I didn’t get the chance to try these. I think though spending 3 hours learning one track tells me I would get my money’s worth since the game will have over 40 tracks. I am happy with what I played and now I know I will not just be buying the game for the track “I am the best” by the Kpop group 2NE1.

I could say more about Dance Central 3 but I am going to hold back. You can try it out for yourself as the Demo is now available on Xbox live. Come back to einfo games next week and I will tell you what I think in full.

One thing more to add even though they have a party mode etc, Dance Central 3 is focused more on people wanting to improve and have a go at learning choreography. This game will be more appreciated by the enthusiast and professional dancers. If you want to just have a laugh and burn a few calories this game is a bit more hard core. Try the Demo first and take it from there.

Dance Central 3 will be available in North America October 16, 2012, and Japan October 18, 2012. It will hit stores in Europe and Australia October 19, 2012
