Dance Central 3 Gameplay Trailer

A new trailer for Dance Central 3 has been released detailing the gameplay of the latest installment of this series. Harmonix’s new trailer shows that the title will include multiplayer for up to eight players as well as a new mode known as “Throwdown mode” that will allow players to challenge each other in teams of four to a dance off. I can’t think of a better way to resolve family tension than through the art of dance. Are mom and dad upset about your new tattoo? Dance about it. Did you tell your sibling that it looks like he gained weight? Dance about it. Did you accidentally kill the family’s beloved ficus? Calm down, take a breath, and dance it out.

The game will also include over 40 songs from Usher, Gloria Gaynor, 50 Cent, and Cobra Starship. Dance Central 3 will be released in fall 2012, just in time for a 75 year-old man and his 10 year old granddaughter to throw down and dance to 50 Cent at Christmas to decide who gets the last slice of pie. This will change family gatherings forever. You’ll be able to look back and tell your kids who now only dance to resolve disputes about how you used to fight in the old days. They’ll look at you with wonder and then turn back and continue dancing to the newer, edgier, middle-aged Justin Bieber.

The game will also include an expanded story mode that will allow players to dance through decades of music.

Harmonix’s best-selling Dance Central series allows players to control an avatar through the Xbox 360’s Kinect. The motion-sensitive camera tracks players’ movements as they try to replicate the dance moves onscreen. I use the word “try” because that’s the best I can do. Also, word to the wise, don’t use the moves from Dance Central in a real-life dance situation. Things get really awkward pretty quickly.

Jazz hands.
