The tournament pinned four teams of students from different schools as they fought to create their very own video game. They were given six months leading up to the Gadget Show Live event this year to work on and present a fully playable game by the last day of the show. Mike Gamble, anther judge on the panel, and European Territory Manager at Epic Games, said Dead Shark’s game Epigenisis has the potential to be put out on the commercial gaming market.

“In giving Dead Shark Triplepunch a UE3 licence specifically for Epigenesis we want to enable them to bring this title to market in the shortest possible time and see them on their way to becoming a fully-fledged independent games development studio. However, the judges felt that there were two games this year worthy of commercial release in the short term, and so we have also awarded Kairos with a UE3 licence in order to complete and publish its game Polymorph.”

The teams were each supported by game mentors, supplying them with knowledge and advice on how to build their games. Leading the design and creation of Dead Shark Triplepunch was the creative minds at Splash Damage.

Epigenesis pits two teams against each other as they fight to punt a ball into the others goal. The kick is you also get guns. It is a sports game with lethal weapons. Congratulations Dead Shark Triplepunch and may Epigenesis be available to all soon.
