Trion Worlds have announced that the highly anticipated online open world shooter, Defiance, will launch globally on April 2nd. The game has been described as a one-of-a-kind ‘transmedia experience’. Gamers can play Defiance on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 or a Windows PC and become part of the online world ahead of the April 15th debut of the Syfy TV show.
Nathan Richardsson, Trion’s VP of Development and Defiance Executive Producer spoke about the games upcoming release saying:
“In terms of ambition and scope, Defiance’s transmedia features make it unlike any other entertainment experience.” ….“After five years of development, it brings great pride to the Trion and Syfy teams seeing Defiance come to fruition.”
Defiance the TV show is also set to air this April, is a character based drama set in a post-apocalyptic earth in 2034. The game however will task gamers with the opportunity to become more involved in mass battles across the US. Defiance is an MMO that is tied in with the television series.
Players who can’t wait until April 2nd to look into life as an Ark Hunter in Defiance, Trion have released the full version of their highly-anticipated Defiance live action game trailer titled “Join the Fight” today.
Set in the barren desert, this trailer combines the isolated, post-apocalyptic setting of Defiance with futuristic EGO technology and a Hellbug attack. The trailer gives further insight into the lives behind the Ark Hunters in the game, and how there is never a safe moment on the new, terraformed Earth.
Gamers can now pre order Defiance online and at major game retailers, and choose from multiple game bundles, digital and physical, starting at £34.99. These include standard, collectors, and a very limited number of ultimate editions for sale now. Each package allows players to delve deeper, and more quickly, into the persistent futuristic universe where the survival of Earth relies on players skills as an Ark Hunter levelling up in massive co-op battles and fierce multiplayer combat.
