Independent developer Devolver Digital is offering a Steam coupon for 50% off any of its titles, or bundle of titles, for anyone who contributes at or above the “Duke” tier to Firefly Studios’ Stronghold Crusader II crowdfunding campaign on Gambitious.
Devolver’s titles include the brand new Shadow Warrior reboot, Serious Sam titles, Hotline Miami, Duke Nukem 3D, Dungeon Hearts, Foul Play, and more! Steam coupon codes will be emailed to contributors upon successful conclusion of the campaign and will be good through the end of 2013.
Scheduled for release in early 2014, Stronghold Crusader 2 will be digitally self-published by Firefly Studios. Additional funding is currently being sought through a new games-centric crowdfunding platform Gambitious. The funds raised will be put toward an extended development cycle, a closed beta, and additional game content.

I’ve been a fan of Firefly Studios since the days of Stronghold II. It’s awesome to see Devolver offering coupons for other great titles as an incentive. If you haven’t had the chance to play Hotline Miami or Shadow Warrior, now might be the perfect time to give these titles a try! It’s interesting to see a relatively well-known independent game developer using a funding campaign, it just goes to show how difficult creating a game can be. It goes without saying that many great ideas get squashed because the game companies simply cannot afford to develop their ideas. So be sure to help independent developers you have faith in, they might create the next big hit.
