Ratrod Studio gives racing fans a variety of product placements in Drift Mania Championship 2.
There is a mixture of opinions when it comes to advertising. Some people are fine with watching commercials coming up on Youtube. However if you want to experience a sport in any way, especially car racing, you will have to just accept that sponsors will cram cute, erotic women wearing Adidas-brand shorts laid out over vehicles drinking NOS energy drinks. Considering video games based upon sports work hard to replicate the experience of the real world, then expect these advertisements in Ratrod Studio's Drift Mania Championship 2.
Drift Mania Championship 2 looks to have enough features to keep racing fans entertained. Based around drift racing, the game will feature 13 customizable vehicles, where players can select body kits or custom wheels. A career mode will include 13 drift circuits (racing tracks) and 60 achievements to unlock. Plus there is a feature to customize the HUD of the game by repositioning the steering wheel, or just switching the controls to gyroscope support.
The trailer for Drift Mania Championship 2 shows some action of the game, but there is also a lot of product placement edited into the scenes of titillating women. Ratrod Studio developed this game in collaboration with DMCC, the only professional drifting series in Canada and officially sponsored by NOS Energy Drink. Various parts used to customize your vehicle come from recognizable brands like Royal Purple, K&N, Magnaflow, Centerforce, Whiteline, and Mishimoto. Finally, the soundtrack for Drift Mania Championship 2 comes from A'n'R Music Limited, which includes Templeton Pek and KNGDMS. But if any of these songs are not familiar to you (like me), you can always listen to your own music library while driving through the tracks.
I understand racing games rely on product placement, but Drift Mania Championship 2 seems determined to sell you anything through the teasing images of sexy women. Supposedly there is over ten million fans of the Drift Mania franchise, so I think the game will appeal to racing fans. I'm sure all the white, male, heterosexual gamers out there will be watching this.
Now I feel like getting some NOS energy drink.
Drift Mania Championship 2 is available now for iOS and Android. A Windows 8 version will also be available by the end of October.
