Exciting Updates on Knytt Underground

Knytt Underground gets major update, new price, soundtrack, and Wii U version

The lovable platformer-puzzle game Knytt Underground has had considerable success on the Playstation Network since its release PS3 and PS Vita, even being featured as part of Playstation Plus‘s Instant Game Collection.  The game follows the sprite Mi who ventures through a vast world completing quests and interacting with a colorful collection of characters.  The game’s visuals are perhaps its most striking feature.  Together with its minimalist soundtrack, they create a peaceful, “zen-like” experience for the player.

Its creator, Nicklas “Nifflas” Nygren, and Ripstone Games have ambitious plans to expand the game and its fan base.  At the end of August, Knytt Underground was greenlit by Steam, which opens up a whole new market for the game.  In preparation for the Steam launch in the next few months, Steamworks integration is being developed for the game.  This feature will presumably allow players to mod the game, adding even more content to an already huge experience.

Official new content is also on the way to PC, Mac, and Linux versions of the game.  The Infinity Hype update will vastly expand the Knytt Underground experience.  Players can expect more quests, a larger world, and even more hidden secrets.  This update is the result of a lot of fan feedback and will be released very soon.

The Playstation Network lets you play Knytt Underground both at home on PS3 and on the go with PS Vita for one low price.

The PS3 and PS Vita versions will not run this new content; however, the price for the game on these platforms has dropped to £7.99 / $9.99 / €9.99 on the Playstation Network.  This low price combined with the ability to play the game on both the PS3 and PS Vita with one purchase through the Playstation Network’s cross-buy capability make this version a fantastic deal.

Due to the outstanding fan support, Nifflas has decided to release Knytt Underground‘s beautiful soundtrack for free.  The soundtrack can be downloaded through the Playstation Store, Bandcamp, or Nifflas’ own website.  This album contains more than 100 songs and will be sure to make your days more “zen-like.”

A Wii U version of the game has also been announced.  It is due to come out before the end of 2013.  It will be the only console version of the game to carry Infinity Hype updated content, so even if you have Knytt on another platform the Wii U version could be a great choice to experience the expanded world.  For those who can’t wait to test out this version, Nifflas will be demoing the Wii U version at Eurogamer Expo from September 26th through the 29th in London.
