Filming has begun for the second Tekken movie

The new Tekken movie, which is being credited as the prequel to the 2010 film under the title Tekken – A Man Called X, is set to star Japanese actor Kane Kosugi, according to Cinema Today. He also reported that filming has started.

kkusogiThe film was originally confirmed in late 2012 under the working title Tekken: Rise of the Tournament and is being produced by Lionsgate and Crystal Sky.

Director Prachya Pinkaew, whose previous work includes the hugely successful martial arts film Ong-Bak, will be taking control of this new title, which is a prequel to the original film.

The original film wasn’t as successful as was hoped, but managed to entertain most that saw it. However, some people were not so keen on it.

Tekken game series director Katsuhiro Harada dismissed the film and started an angry tirade on twitter. “That Hollywood movie is terrible,” Harada said at the time.

“We were not able to supervise that movie; it was a cruel contract. I’m not interested in that movie.”
