For Your Info: Top Five RPGs Of 2012

2012 is coming to close and what a year it was. So many fresh experiences and trips down memory lane. Some old loose ends were tied up, as well as some new adventures being started. For instance, E-info games being brought to the gaming world, Mass Effect trilogy coming to a close, and Diablo 3 finally be available to the public. Yes it was a splendid year of gaming, but today I’m here just to share my opinion on the top five rpgs of it, So Enjoy!

Honorable mentions:

Final Fantasy XIII-2

Diablo 3

Tales of Graces f

5.) The Witcher 2: Asiassin of King

Developers: CD Projekt Red

Publishers: Atari Inc.

Release Date: April 17, 2012

Some people may say that the beginning missions of Witcher 2 are far to difficult, others will appreciate the challenge right out the gate. Players step into the shoes of series hero Geralt of Rivia, one of the last remaining witchers. The game offers so many paths and choices in mission that replay ability is highly recommended. I can’t speak on the PC version of this game ( which is said to be better), but the 360 is plenty on challenge and satisfaction.

4.) Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Developers: 38 Studios, Big Huge Games

Publishers: 38 Studios, Electronic Arts

Release Date: February 7, 2012

Kingdoms of Amalur was introduced to me by a Gamestop employee during the time I was looking for something new to play, after finally putting down Skyrim. Amalur featured  less polished graphics and story, but featured a fighting system superior to that of Skyrim. While Amalur doesn’t reinvent the RPG genre, it’s a pretty good time and rewarding experience.

 3.) Xenoblade Chronicles

Developers: Monolith Soft

Publishers: Nintendo

Release Date: April 6, 2012 (United States)

I love JPRGs with a passion. I can’t really explain my love for them, maybe it’s the silly nature is which they all follow the same basic plot, starting with just a one character and gradually gaining an entire team of misfits. Xenoblade Chronicles was my favorite JRPG of the year 2012 by far (Sorry Tales of Grace f). The real treat for me was the battle system, which is a breath of fresh air for a fan of the Tales series. In short, Xenoblade Chronicles is a wonderful experience of gorgeous visuals, sound, and play.

2.) Mass Effect 3

Developers: BioWare

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Release Date: March 6, 2012

Ending aside, Mass Effect 3 was one of the most satisfying experiences for gamers. The trilogy is finally over and a journey of six years is complete. Hard not the like Mass Effect, it’s beautifully charming, and allowed gamers the freedom of choice. No two people played exactly alike. The wonderful thing about Mass Effect is how each experience felt your own and the conclusion was the big payoff. Mass Effect 3 is truly a unique milestone is rpg history.

1.)Dragon’s Dogma

Developers: Capcom

Publishers: Capcom

Release Date: May 22, 2012

Personally Dragon’s Dogma was my favorite RPG of the year. Open world adventuring has always been a pet peeve of mins. Although flawed, Dragon’s Dogma provided enough unique times to make it a game remember. It’s not as open as say Mass Effect 3, but it’s truly a brilliant title in its own right. Some will love the story, while other will hate it, nonetheless RPG fans should appreciate hardwork and dedication put behind Dragon’s Dogma.

Well that’s it for my favorite RPGs of 2012. If you haven’t played all of them and call yourself a fan of the RPG genre do so now. Pleases share your opinions on the column ( because I can’t learn from my mistakes without them) and let us at Einfo Games know your favorites. Until next time, Happy New Years!
