Gamers looking for a modern take on early PC shooters will be excited to learn that Nordic Games Painkiller Hell and Damnation is now available for purchase via Xbox Live Games on Demand.

Painkiller Hell and Damnation follows Daniel Garner, who after a crash kills both he and his wife gets sent to Purgatory while she gets to live forever in peace in Heaven. He gets tasked by an angel called Samuel to stop Hell by killing four of Satins generals. In exchange for this he’ll get to be reunited with his beloved.
You’ll be dealing with Satins army by gunning them down in fast paced action across five separate chapters, each of which five levels long. The game fully takes advantage of the fact that it takes place in Purgatory in ways like basing levels in locations like Venice and a bleeding opera house as well as giving you weapons including the now famous gun that shoots “shurikens and lightening” and with hundreds of demons to kill you’re going to need the firepower.

Along with bring Painkiller to Game on Demands Nordic Games are also bringing the DLC packs Medieval Horror, Full Metal Rocket and The Clock Strikes Midnight.
