The new trailer (or trailers) for Grand Theft Auto V have landed and they looks fantastic. Seriously. Each trailer is dedicated to the 3 main protagonists, 1 for Michael, (who is very reminiscent of Tommy Vercetti from GTA: Vice City), 1 for Franklin (who reminds me of CJ from GTA : San Andreas) and 1 for Trevor who shares the same qualities as my local hobo except Trevor likes to kill.
The Michael trailer showcases the more glamorous side of the game whilst showing some character elements such as Michael being a father and chasing a boy from what looks like his daughters room. The trailer also shows that Michael is rich and shows him robbing banks but the voice over provides more insight into what’s going on in Michael’s head as he says ‘i’m rich, i’m miserable’ which could be the main reason why he meets the other two protagonists. Then there’s the music for the trailer which is Radio Ga Ga by Queen, which goes perfectly with the trailer. Overall Michael looks like he is going to be the most fun to play around with as his lifestyle is sure to be the basis for some cool missions.
One thing was going through my mind when i watched the Franklin trailer and that was that everything looks just like the old hoods that CJ used to hang around in San Andreas ( yes i know it’s set in Los Santos) but still to pull off the same look 9 years after the game was released is an impressive feat. Franklin seems to be your stereotypical gangster, trying to make it big in the world (which could lead to him meeting a rich man like Michael). His trailer showcases a lot of gun fights accompanied by a rap song to make it feel more authentic and shows a man saying to Franklin that being a ‘gangbanger’ is ‘all we got, it’s our heritage’, which again shows that Franklin may be trying to get a gangster’s reputation because he feels it’s his right.
Trevor however is a whole different kettle of fish. Whereas the other two trailers show off the rich life and the middle class life, Trevor shows how he is a drug dealer but a rather crazy one, threatening to cut someone’s arm off for not bringing him his car which just shows what type of lunatic he is. I also like how he mentions making new friends and then the trailer shows a montage of him punching multiple people in the face, which makes me think Trevor is going to be popular with people for all the wrong reasons. In the trailer we also see that Trevor already has a relationship with Michael (no idea how) but it exists and it could be how all 3 characters become acquainted with each other. Trevor looks to be the funniest out of the 3 however due to his hillbilly like nature and the fact he says anything that’s on his mind, which is defiantely going to be funny to watch.
GTA V is set to be massive and you would be foolish not to get it when it’s released on September 17th 2013
