InnoGames Reveals Kartuga’s Skill Tree System

InnoGames releases trailer presentening the skill system from their upcoming pirate-themed MMO Game — Kartuga.

In Kartuga players assume the roles of pirate captains sailing their ships through uncharted waters in search of fortune. Each player starts the adventure by choosing one of the three available ship classes: Destroyer, Protector or Engineer. As shown on the trailer, each class has its own set skills divided into three branches.

Skill system contains over 80 abilities allowing the players to customize their vessels in a way that best suits their gameplay styles. The system is very flexible. It can be reset between battles so that players can try out various combinations of abilities. However, since game focuses on team PvP combat the key to victory is adjusting your set of skills to those of your allies.

Full list of skill branches available in Kartuga:

Destroyer is Kartuga’s heavy hitter class equipped with various means of destruction.

Destroyer’s skill branches:

  • Ravanger — enabling unit to shoot long-distance, precise volleys with the “Aimed shot” ability.
  • Brawler — armour increase with highly damaging closed range attacks like “Rapid Fire”.
  • Raider — skills granting higher mobility but at the price of lowered defense.

Kartuga-battleProtectors are the defensive ships able to withstand and cause heavy damage but lacking in speed.

Protector’s skill branches:

  • Buwark — skills increasing ship’s defense making it even more difficult to sink.
  • Wrangler — aggressive abilities like “Feel my Pain” increasing Protector’s attacks’ power the more damaged it is.
  • Suppressor — controlling skills like “Watery Grave” stopping enemies from using their abilities.

Engineer is the supporting class concentrated on hindering opponents and assisting allied units in battles.

Engineer’s skill branches:

    • Atlanticus — helping friendly ships for example by repairing damage.
    • Tinker — debuffing opponent’s skills.
    • Buoy Master — skills enabling release of devices controlling the battlefield like stationary cannons.

Kartuga is a MMO browser game created by InnoGames — developers of Grepolis and Tribal Wars — based on the Free to Play model with optional micropayments. In the game players steer the ships across the seven seas completing quests, robbing mechants and exploring uncharted regions. Major focus is put on the PvP combat as the game’s arcade-style gameplay allows for quick and exciting sea fights. Kortuga is currently in closed beta phase.
