Little Big Adventure iOS and Android Release Date Revealed

Little Big Adventure coming March 27th

The release date of cult classic Little Big Adventure for iOS and Android has been revealed. Coming on March 27th, Little Big Adventure has been specially adapted for mobiles by DotEmu, a studio specialising in modern re-releases of retro classics.

Little Big Adventure holds a special place in the hearts of many gamers. Originally released for PC in 1994 and Playstation 1 in 1997, the cult classic is now due to make an appearance on iOS and Android devices.

Little-Big-Adventure-Screenshot-3The adventure-roleplaying game sees players take control of Twinsen, a young guy who has apocalyptic dreams about the destruction of the planet. Twinsen is locked away in an insane asylum by dictator Dr. FunFrock, and the player is tasked with escaping and trying to protect the planet from the evil tyrant.

The game has a huge focus on story and challenging puzzles, as well as a wide range of loveable (and in some cases, detestable) characters.

The game is being re-released by DotEmu, a publisher and developer who specialises in modernising retro classics for current-day audiences. DotEmu’s other ports include Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded, Phantasy Star II, III and IV and a range of early Sonic titles.

Adeline Software International

Little Big Adventure managed to amass a significant cult following upon its initial release, with over 400,000 copies of the game sold after its first release.

The success of the original game lead to the development of a sequel, Little Big Adventure 2, in 1997 for PC. This game again saw Twinsen trying to protect the planet, though this time against alien invaders called Esmers.

The second game also received critical acclaim and a large number of fans, leading to calls for a third title in the series. Unfortunately, Adeline Software International, the studio behind the two games, was sold to Sega in 1997, leaving any hopes for a third game crushed.

Though the company has since continued on to create Moto Racer Advance in 2002, continued requests for a third Little Big Adventure title haven’t yet been rewarded with a new entry into the series.

Little Big Adventure will be released for iOS and Android devices on March 27th.
