Console gamers had to watch as PC gamers had the opportunity to purchase science fiction RPG Mars War Logs for cheap during the recent Steam Summer Sale. On August 7, European gamers won’t have to wait any longer – US gamers will have to wait until later the same month – as developer Spiders Studios announces the digital download release of the game and it will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.
When I came across this game, I didn’t think much of it – “Just another indie action RPG,” I thought. But it seems that my presumption isn’t so, or at least that’s the sentiment that many who play the game feel, as the game seems to have garnered a cult following.
You play as renegade Roy, a man caught in the middle of a civil war as corporations fight over the most precious natural resource: water. The catch is that the game is set on the planet Mars, nearly a century after a cataclysm that threw the planet and its colonies into chaos.
Mars WL allows you to develop your character and your combat style in traditional role playing scenarios, such as choosing between different talents and skills. Combat is dynamic and in real time.
