Whether you love it or hate it, Metal Gear Rising : Revengeance has been slicing its way into our anticipation for some time now, looking like one of the most promising hack n’ slash games of the current generation. Snake and stealth are taking the backseat this time around, with Raiden and over the top, stylized action thrust forward onto the front lines for our stab-happy pleasure. Produced by the legendary Kojima Productions and developed by action gurus Platinum games, Metal Gear Rising : Revengeance is certainly in the best possible hands of this time.
Deemed as neither a re-boot nor a prequel, but simply Raiden’s own game taking place in the popular Metal Gear universe, while at the same time having possibly one of the most backwards fanbases I’ve ever seen. Die hard fans of the Metal Gear series seem to be turning their backs on the half cyborg swordsman, while fans of the related Devil May Cry and Bayonetta games are hungrily waiting in line for their taste of the action. Without a doubt, this is quite a departure from the classic Metal Gear Solid games we’ve all come to love, and beloved fans of the series have certainly been vocal about their disgust with the new direction of Revengeance. Ignoring the fact that rumors of Metal Gear Solid 5 have surfaced, and Kojima himself has stated that this is a merely a spin-off and not the next game in the official series, the community has had no trouble in voicing their disappointment, expecting another stealth/snake title.
Putting the argument aside, Raiden is back once more and this time with his own game to boot, with all of the sleek and stylish cutting players could hope for. The machine-like protagonist is still haunted by his grueling past, and is now out for revenge against Desperado Enterprises, one of the leading private military groups who played a key part in his downfall. Armed to the teeth with a variety of all-new weapons and his trusty High Frequency Blade, little can stand in the way of Raiden’s never-ending blood lust and thirst for revenge. Devil May Cry fans can rejoice, as sword-play, high-flying combos, and intriguing action are plentiful in Platinum Games newest creation.
The newest trailer in question is primarily made up of the excellent, fast paced gameplay we have already seen, as the last trailer release showed plenty a few months back. The short-but-sweet new footage is shown about three minutes into the previously known gameplay montage. Why they chose to stick it at the end of an already released trailer is beyond me; I can only assume they wanted fans to watch the entire video again to add to the overall experience, which it certainly does if you ask me. So click the link below, sit back and enjoy a good ol’ bloodbath of old and new cinematic excellence.
