It has been six years since EA’s free-to-play action racer has graced the world with any content and what a better time to put it out. Need for Speed World has added Drag Mode. Yes drag racing has finally come to us in the shape of a few new cars to boot. Just visit the Car Dealer and get behind the wheel of the two newest drag machines; the Toyota Supra “Street Mod” Drag Edition and the Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake “Pro Stock” Drag Edition. Sorry fans, Eleanor isn’t one of the drag beasts, but we can all hope and dream of that day.
The multiplayer fun increases with this new Drag Mode. Players can search for a lobby in Match-Making or create their own Private Match to compete against their fellow speed racer friends. There are four different environments with which players can race against five other enemies, equaling up to six player drag racing action. All owners and drivers of gear shifting cars will find this to their liking but it is a mode for all action racer fans. Immediately off the line racers must keep a wary eye on their gear shifts as well as the road ahead, dodging traffic, opponents, and walls. Switching gears while in the green zone is the vital way to getting ahead in the race with each perfect shift players will get a nitrous boost. So keep an eye on that red line and shift well my racers!
Also a fancy addition for Need for Speed World is the Drag Skill Mods. These mods enhance the users car to aid them in driving like a champ.
- Aero Drag Reduction – Improves aerodynamic properties on the car, improving overall performance in Drag races. This is exclusive to Drag Cars and cannot be won from Lucky Draw or Card Packs.
- Launch Grip – Improves acceleration in Drag races by enhancing tire grip at race start. Can be purchased from the cash store or won from Lucky Draw & Card Packs.
- Gear Ratio Enhancement – Increases the size of the RPM band required to hit a Perfect or Good Shift. Perfect Shifts give a small boost and the RPM range to hit gets smaller each gear. Can be purchased from the cash store or won from Lucky Draw & Card Packs.
Need for Speed World is truly a game to add to an action racers arsenal of games. From its social experience to its over 100 miles of open road with fan-favorite locations from Need for Speed Most Wanted and Need for Speed Carbon. It holds over 120 beautiful licensed cars, over 80 racing events, allow races side-by-side with friends in the Team Escape challenges, or cruise the open road in Free Roam searching for Treasure Gems, my personal favorite past time. Need for Speed World is a constantly growing and changing game with over 20 million registered racers!

*Writer’s Opinion*
As soon as Need for Speed World had finished downloading I found myself behind the wheel of the Dodge Challenger, one of the first basic cars one can buy. Being a free to play racing game I figured that the gameplay would be lackluster and mediocre, but come to find out I was horribly mistaken. I found myself much more enthralled with this game than previous racers within the first two minutes of my race, though I was awful and hit everything known to man. I would like to know if there have been any game, whether free or not, that have changed your opinion within the first minutes of the game?
