Activision is continuing their trend of casting stars in Call of Duty commercials with the new Black Ops 2 trailer. The Black Ops 2 trailer (which will henceforth be known throughout the world as BO2 so I can make immature jokes about body odor) is directed by Guy Ritchie and features Robert Downey Jr. After Activision grew tired of spending, swimming in, and burning money from their last COD release, they decided to throw it all at the marketing budget for Black Ops 2. And honestly, who doesn’t love Robert Downey Jr? He’s such a lovable scamp.
The new Black Ops 2 trailer shows a lot of people “surprising” each other, which shouldn’t come as a surprise, since it’s called, “Surprise.” The biggest surprise for me was the fact that there were two whole women in there. Two! Out of a total of eleven soldiers featured. Of course, one of them had to wear a midriff-baring top, because you know how the ladies love to show off their bods, but I still call that progress. Now we’re allowed in game trailers in an amount that represents us in the world population.
You did know that two out of every eleven persons in the world is female, right? At first glance that doesn’t make any sense because it would be incredibly imbalanced, but when you think about it, you realize that video game marketing is never wrong. This is why I also believe that Activision is right, that there is a soldier in all of us. Or at least there had better be in order to justify the crazy amount of money they spent on this campaign. I think if 6 billion people buy this game, they’ll break even.
