Second Civilization V expansion — Brave New World — introduces new nations, wonders and scenarios and remodels game’s Culture and Diplomacy systems.
Besides being a bit aged Sid Meier’s Civilization V is still one of the most popular strategy games available. Thanks to considerable fan community of fans Firaxis decided to expand the game by creating second expansion. Brave New World will add new units, buildings and of course 9 new civilizations — one of which will be Poland lead by Casimir the Great.
Culture and Ideologies will be of much greater importance here. Eight new wonders will be introduced including Parthenon, Broadway and Globe Theater. Archaeologists will increase cultural influence by discovering priceless artifacts after investigating ancient battle sites and ruins. Work of great artists, musician and writers will attract attention of tourists from the whole globe. Eventually, domination in the cultural influence will result in new type of win: Cultural Victory.
Entering the industrial era will involve choosing nation’s ideology. Freedom, Order, Autocracy — each ideology will hugely affect gameplay by granting players new abilities and changing relationships with other nations.
Poland will be one of the new nations available in the expansion.
Diplomacy will be second system expanded in Brave New World. After sufficient development nations as well as city-states will join the World Congress whose participants will decide about most important matters such as: trade embargos , resource usage, World Game host or nuclear weapons limit.
International trade routes will connect world’s most prominent cities by land and sea. Thanks to trading routes nations will be able to spread their religion, science and cultural influence but their number will be limited by the technical and economical advancement of the civilization.
Two new scenarios will allow players to fight America’s civil war on the side of Union or Confederate and explore the Black Continent as one of the nation colonizing Africa.
Brave New World is set to release this summer.
