New Crysis 3 Trailer Showcases Hunter Mode

“Good news everyone,” EA has released a new trailer showcasing the new Hunter Mode in Crysis 3. Hunter mode goes something like this: 2 players, who are armed to the teeth, stalk and systematically eliminate the opposing team; which consists of 10 players on consoles,14 on PC. Here’s the twist, once a Hunter makes a kill, their prey respawns as a hunter; thus tipping the balance of the round.

In addition, the trailer showcases the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition which can be obtained by pre-ordering the game from Origin.com and sports the following goodies:

  •     Predator Bow- An exclusive “cloaking-friendly” weapon skin.
  •     Recon Arrow- Allows players to survey the battlefield.
  •     Hunter Nanosuit Module- A Perk that works well with the included Predator Bow.
  •     Level 5 XP HeadStart
  •     3 Exclusive Dog Tags
  •     Free digital copy of the original Crysis- Available at launch.

“The release of Crysis in 2007 was truly a watershed moment for first-person shooters and raised the bar on cutting-edge visuals and gameplay and we could not be more thrilled to include the original game as a pre-order bonus,” said Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek. “Building upon the framework laid by the previous games, Crysis 3 offers unparalleled tactical freedom as players experience New York City’s Seven Wonders and adapt to the truly unique challenges they present. By blending the best elements of the series so far, we’ve created an action experience that we believe will blow fans away.”

*Writer’s Opinion*

I had quite a bit of trouble figuring out if players who preorder Crysis 3 get immediate access to the original Crysis or have to wait until launch to play it. The wording is somewhat vague, but seems to point to the latter; which is strange. Most other offers like this allow you to wet your beak with the original game while you wait for the modern one. Who’s going to want to play the original Crysis when you’ve got a brand spanking new one? Hopefully I’m wrong. To those of you out there in internetland that have pre-ordered Crysis 3, are you currently playing your free digital copy of the original Crysis?
