A new company called Speech Graphics Ltd has been given a 25,000 Euro grant from the University of Abertay Prototype to develop new facial animation software for mobile gaming and application making. The software takes a new leap by automatically animating faces from the developer’s voice over. The software makes it look precisely as sounded out including correct muscle use.

This is a giant leap forward in mobile gaming because of all the mobile games I have played, you usually just see the characters mouth go up and down with the words but this software corrects that and uses real life muscle application.

While mobile gaming is growing at a steady rate for Android and iPhone users, the use of new technology has not. Graphical power of phones has significantly grown over the past few years but there have only been a handful of games that I have looked at and been impressed. We have the graphics engine to make it but with this new software that Speech Graphics Ltd is creating, we can finally achieve console replica voice acting to make a console like game for the mobile platform. Something I am sure every smartphone gamer would love to see.

Not only would this appeal to gamers but to app users and creators also with this you can finally give a video animation tutorial without it looking choppy and unrealistic. Wherever you need animation, this software really brings it to life without much effort at all.

My first ever video game console was a SNES, I actually still have that SNES. I also had a Gameboy Color that I took to preschool with me when I was little. That's dedication.
