New PlayPads and Mobile Games Displayed at Nyko Diner

Two new versions of the PlayPad for Android were displayed by Nyko Technologies at E3 this week. The two unveiled are the PlayPad Pro 2 and the PlayPad Media, both were demoed with new games from different developers.

“We are excited to be showcasing two new PlayPad concepts that were designed after listening to consumer feedback,” said Chris Arbogast, director of marketing, Nyko Technologies. “We’ll be showcasing these new controllers with brand new and unreleased games from a great list of partners who are embracing PlayPad and the HID Android protocol.”

Nyko’s new E3 2013 PlayPad line-up for Android includes:

The first of the two shown is the PlayPad Pro 2, it is a new design including the Alps analog stick components. These analog sticks allow you to experience the same quality that a console would have, with the PlayPad Pro 2 being the most accurate controller for mobile gaming. The all new shape of the controller provides great comfort with it including Nykos soft feel surface finish as well as rubber grips with the controller.

The second PlayPad shown is the PlayPad Media is a update to the original PlayPad Pro including media playback controls to this new controller. Using these controls you may play, pause, fast forward any type of media that you would like. You may also directly adjust the volume straight from the controller.

Both of these controllers are being considered for a release in quarter 4 of this year.

The two PlayPads shown will be fully functional and were demoed from Nyko development partners, these titles include:

The first title is Dub Wars by Mura Interactive, this title features a new spin on the dual stick shooter which will be released later this year for Android as a timed exclusive for the users of the PlayPads. In Dub Wars you shoot a variety of enemies will listening to the tune of todays newest Dubstep tracks. Every level includes new weapons that were designed with the music in mind, making each level a unique experience. For a short time, the first 50 people that pledge will also receive a PlayPad Pro for free. Dub Wars is set to come out later in 2013 with it being fully compatible with Nyko PlayPads.

MOGAPocketProThe next one shown was Forsaken Planet by Loot Interactive, a 3rd person action strategy game with fast pacing. The game will also feature a single player storyline campaign with cross-platform multiplayer. The player will battle other employees, upgrade their items all in quests to become the Employee of the month. Nyko will also be partnering with Loot Interactive to bring special contest providing PlayPads and other Nyko rewards for the most skilled of players.  Forsaken Planet is due to be released later this year with complete PlayPad compatibility.

Sonic the Hedgehog by Sega of America was the third title shown, it is based of the Sonic game that started it all. Race along seven of the classic maps as Sonic as you collect rings while defeating enemies on your quest to save the world from Dr. Eggman. Sonic the Hedgehog is already available for the Android with the compatibility of the PlayPads.

The fourth title was Riptide GP by Vector Unit a full featured sequel to one of the most successful racing games on mobile. The game features rocket powered hydro jets racing around the futuristic tracks over dynamic water. It features fast, fun, and amazing visuals. Riptide GP 2 will be releasing this summer on Android and is fully PlayPad compatible.

The fifth and final game to be shown was Wind-up Knight by Robot Invader, it is a high-end action packed, 3D side scrolling adventure game, showing you how games should be played. You guide your knight through 50 terrifying levels with the goal of rescuing the Princess from the evil clutches of the Black Knight. The player can run, jump, roll, or slash your way to the end. While this is not your typical runner game, it is a challenging game. It is currently out on Android and is already PlayPad compatible.

To summarize, all of these games look great and will be even better with the help of the PlayPad.
