The new slim PlayStation Vita will be making it’s way to the UK in February
Sony has announced that the new PlayStation Vita Slim model (PCH-2000 series) will be releasing in the UK on February 7th, 2014. This is the same slim Vita model that up until now has been just been a Japan exclusive. The PCH-2000 series Vita model will run for about 180 GBP. No word yet on whether or not this new slim PlayStation Vita will come to the States, but smart money is that it will.
The new slim PlayStation model, as you might expect, bodes a different redesign. It is 20% slimmer, and 15% lighter than the original PlayStation Vita. Also, the new model will have a longer battery life, but that battery life comes at a price. This new version will have an LCD screen instead of an OLED screen. It’s not a massive downgrade, but it is pretty significant. Not that the LCD screen is bad, it’s just that the OLED is just that much better.
As mentioned above, the new slim PlayStation Vita is a bit of a redesign as the system features a more rounded shape which is to give players a more comfortable feeling. Plus, it is much lighter so the goal is for players to not be bogged down as much. Also, the PS button/Start button/Select button have been modified to a round and convex shape, allowing users to push more easily.
One final feature is the new slim PlayStation Vita will feature an internal 1 GB memory card. This will allow players to play right away without having to buy a memory card. Of course, it isn’t much data you’ll still have to buy a memory card eventually if you want to play some of the bigger AAA titles; like Uncharted: Golden Abyss or Killzone: Mercenary.
So, there you have it. The new slim PlayStation Vita is coming to the UK. For our UK readers, are you going to be buying the PCH-2000 PlayStation Vita? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
