Over 380 Designers at Game Design Expo

More than 380 game designers are attending this year’s Game Design Expo and Open House in Vancouver, Canada. This year marks the seventh year of the Game Design Expo. The two day event is was sold out and the theme of day one was to “propel the industry forward.” The Game Design Expo started with lectures from the teams behind some of the most popular game franchises in the industry: Halo 4 and Assassin’s Creed. Hopefully they shared tips on how to silently dispatch your enemy and then humiliate them for their defeat. The Vancouver Film School also allowed attendees to sit in on sample classes.

“It has been a fantastic and insightful weekend,” says Dave Warfield, Head of the one-year Game Design program at VFS. “It’s a great experience to learn from such a great mix of game designers. Every year we receive overwhelming support for this event and it makes a great platform for us to launch this year’s Women in Games Scholarship.” The Women in Games Scholarship is the first of its kind, and it provides full tuition to an aspiring female game designer to attend Vancouver Film School. The scholarship was created as a way to create equality for women in a field dominated by men.
