Phase 1 of OMFG (Operation: Make Faster Game) is underway

European Publisher and Developer Sony Online Entertainment have released the first optimisation patch for PlanetSide 2’s live servers

OMFG is now underway and inlcudes optimised UI, physics, sound, player processing, rendering code and much more. Players will now be treated to a significant increase in frame rate and in most cases seeing a 30% + improvement. Aswell as this, players will see an incread in performance. The team are continuing to work on the games optimisation levels, with a focus on improvements to the visibility and physics for Phase 2 of OMFG.

PlanetSide 2 is a Free-To-Play MMOFPS, offering enormous battles, huge empires at your beck and call and massive continents where intense ground and air combat takes place. Thousands of players across the continents of Auraxis come together to take control of critical territories and expansive resources for thier empire. Sony Online Entertainment is a games developer and publisher that was formed in 1998 by merging parts of Sony Online Ventures and Sony Pictures Entertainment. They launched thier first game, EverQuest, in 1999 with modest expectations, but the game quickly became successful and in 2004, Sony announced subscription numbers close to 450,000. They are best known for creating MMOG’s including EverQuest, The Matrix Online, PlanetSide, Star Wars Galaxies, Free Realms, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, DC Universe Online and PlanetSide 2.

Phase 1 of OMFG is now live on the servers and is looking for new recruits.
