This past year Kickstarter Projects have received a massive amount of coverage ever since Double Fines very own Tim Schafer brought it to the table back in February. Ever since then many other projects have been popping up here and then. The latest title to attempt to receive funding from Kickstarter would be an RTS game that already exists, which is known as Blackspace. It is the creation of a development team formerly from EA Sports called PixelFoundry and NVIDA.
Creative head and co-founder Jerry Phaneuf says, “Over the past 9 months we think Blackspace has really evolved into something special, we want to share it with the community and see if they agree. This game has the opportunity to become bigger, deeper, and more visually compelling with Kickstarter backing. Coming from larger studios, where your work is necessarily guarded, we are not accustomed to intentionally sharing incomplete visuals, its a bit unnerving. But we're really excited, and maybe wincing slightly, about the prospect of broad honest feedback from the public, that Kickstarter promises.”
Blackspace is also going to include the Oculus Rift as part of its development plans.Creative head and co-founder Jerry Phaneuf says, “We implemented stereo 3D in the game quite early in the development, mostly for fun. But now with Nvidia's support and the emergence of the Rift, we have reason to fully support both Oculous and 3D Vision. A lot is happening for us right now, regardless of what happens with Kickstarter, the future ought to be interesting.” says Phaneuf.
The key features included within Blackspace are as follows:
Most notably the 3D vision provided by Nvidia
Everything will be destructible
It will inlcude a fully deformable landscape for you to play on
Dig and discover new tech and resources to use to your advantage
Physics based flight mechanics
And it will include an extensive use of physics to allow you to be create when destroying things
Keep your eyes peeled RTS fans as Blackspace is released in the summer of 2013
