Playstation Store Accepts Paypal in U.S.

Players can use Paypal to get their online goodies

Playstation Store account holders can now use Paypal to pay for their purchases. Instead of using Paypal to pay for games and other items directly, Playstation Store allows you to transfer funds from Paypal to your wallet. These funds can then be spent on anything that you choose. This feature was previously available, but required the use of a PC. Since January, players had been able to sync the funds to their SEN account. Now, players can send the money directly to their PS3. The maximum amount of funds you can transfer is $150, the maximum amount you can have in your wallet at any given time. The minimum amount transferable is five dollars. This feature is going live as we are near the end of this console generation and enter into the next.

This new feature is for the PS3 version of Playstation Store, but it seems reasonable that this will carry over to the PS4. While the ability to pay through Paypal is unlikely to have a major impact on the way players pay for games, it is always nice to have the option. Some of the other payment options for Playstation Store include the prepaid cards, Pay by Mobile, and credit card. The idea of paying for content online has seen it’s rise during this generation as well as the payment methods for this content. It is always helpful when companies such as Sony offer players the widest number of options possible in terms of acquiring this content.

The options this new Paypal feature provides seem to be infinite. The money is added to the wallet, so it should be able to cover all games and add-on content. I would be curious to see if it could also apply to Playstation Plus memberships.
