Primal Carnage Enters Open Beta!

Today Reverb Publishing and Lukeware Media announced that Primal Carnage has gone into open beta for all players who pre-order the game. In addition, those that pre-order will also net an exclusive in-game feathered raptor skin when the game officially launches for PC in Q4 2012.

Primal Carnage ignores 65 million year of evolution and locks humans and dinosaurs together in brutal combat. Dinosaurs take center stage as they battle the humans in this class-based online multiplayer shooter. Players can choose from human classes, each of whom have unique and sophisticated weaponry, or they can assume the role of a violent and destructive dinosaur. From the cunning Velociraptor, to the powerful Tyrannosaurus Rex, players can wreak havoc on the opposing team. They can even take to the skies as a ferocious Pteranodon to gain a tactical advantage.

Primal Carnage is rendered using the Unreal 3 Engine and features stunning visuals on five large, open and varied environments. Human classes will take advantage of the first-person camera angle, whereas dinosaur classes will utilize a third-person perspective.

You can pre-order Primal carnage from Steam, Gamestop, Gamers Gate, Rain, or the Primal Carnage website. Once pre-ordered, players will receive instant access to the Primal Carnage beta and unlock the exclusive in-game raptor skin.

*Writer's Opinion*

Over the last decade we’ve have quite a few dinosaur combat games, all of which were met with abysmal reviews. Lukeware Media knows this and promises Primal Carnage is the dinosaur combat game the world has been waiting for. I am cautiously optimistic. On paper dinosaur combat sounds awesome, but it’s the execution that ultimately is the demise of similar titles. Hopefully Lukeware has learned from the mistakes of other developers and can fulfill their promise of giving us an excellent dinosaur combat game. What is your take on the dinosaur combat genre? Do you think balancing will be an issue for this title? Let us know in the comment section below.
