Robin joins roster of champions including Batman, Poison Ivy, Joker and many more in DC-based MOBA
Infinite Crisis, the upcoming free-to-play MOBA (Massively Online Battle Arena) based in the DC Universe, has revealed the Boy Wonder, Robin, as the latest playable character in the game.
Infinite Crisis draws inspiration from the comic book storyline of the same title, and sees the DC Multiverse at risk of destruction. Players take part in matches as some of the most iconic comic book characters of all time, including Robin, Batman, Poison Ivy, Joker and a whole host more. The characters available to play as for free will rotate around on a weekly basis, though players will be able to permanently unlock characters with either ‘merits’ earned by triumphing in battles, or by paying real life cash.
The game features battles in large maps, which are largely destructible. Even more interesting, the environment can be used as a weapon in the battles. Players also have the ability to harness amazing powers, including meteor strikes, alien technology, turrets and the fabled Doomsday Device. Regularly succeeding with a champion and mastering their skills can lead to even greater, more powerful abilities that can really turn the tide in a battle.
The game was originally due to launch for PC at some point in 2013, but by this point it seems that 2014 is more likely, though there is currently the option to sign up for a Beta from the infinitecrisis.com website.
