Grand Theft Auto V set to hit stores in September.
Rockstar Games has announced the release date for the long-awaited new installment of its Grand Theft Auto franchise. Grand Theft Auto V will release worldwide for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17th 2013. The new release date moves the launch back from its original projected release window of spring 2013 to allow additional development time.
Grand Theft Auto V is set in the fictional city of Los Santos, a stylised version of Los Angeles, GTA V follows three lead characters as they carry out a series of increasingly daring heists. Grand Theft Auto V is also said to be the largest and most ambitious game world that Rockstar have created to date. Rockstar have previously revealed that the games environment is larger than the previous two games combined.
Grand Theft Auto V is the ‘fifth’ game in the Grand Theft auto series from developer Rockstar Games. Whilst there have been 15 GTA games in total including games such as Chinatown wars, Vice City and San Andreas. Grand Theft Auto V is the fifth installment of the series ‘main story-line’ that started anew in Grand Theft Auto 3.
Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games spoke about the game saying:
“Grand Theft Auto V continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet,” … “We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months.”
Grand Theft Auto V takes place in Los Santos, a metropolis which is now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty. The game follows three protagonists as they make their way in the world: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. The crew have run out of options and are set to risk everything in a series of dangerous heists to set them up for life. vGrand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story.
Grand Theft Auto V has been described by Rockstar as a game which is taking a bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer. The game is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2013.
Grand Theft Auto V will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th.
