Kabam, a leader in massively multiplayer games for connected devices and Warner Bros. Entertainment have launched the Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth App for iOS and Android devices. The free to play strategy game is inspired by the upcoming Hobbit trilogy. Peter Jackson’s film trilogy which kicks off this December with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is based on J. R. R Tolkien’s series.
Andrew Sheppard, President of Kabam Game Studios spoke about the game commenting:

The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth challenges players to build their own empire in Middle-earth. The game is set in the epic setting of Elves, Dwarves, Orcs and Wizards. The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle earth calls on players to build a kingdom forge powerful alliances and strategise with other gamers to rid Middle-earth of all who oppose the player.
Greg Ballard, Senior Vice President of Warner Bros Digital Games also spoke about the game adding:
“We expect The Hobbit Trilogy to be one of the biggest events in entertainment history.” … “The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth provides an interactive way for film fans to engage in the adventure as they explore the characters, conflicts and locations in this epic fantasy world.”
The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth is available to play in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. The Hobbit: Armies of the Third Age, a free-to-play game for the web, is also in development and will be released later this year.
