Thrustmaster's New Ferrari Cockpit Can Make You Shake At The Knees

Thrustmaster, the world’s top maker of high quality video game controllers is pleased to reveal a new product; the Ferrari Cockpit.
The Ferrari Cockpit is officially licensed by Ferrari and is built to look like the 458 Italia’s own wheel and pedals.
Officially built for the Xbox 360 (also PC compatible) the Ferrari Cockpit will bring a new thrill not heard of in this price range.

G.V.S. (Global Vibration System) technology is what makes this product stand out from the rest. It enables vibrations to enter not only the wheel like in other steering and pedal sets, but also the steering column, and pedals. This is bound to add a new feel of immersion in racing games, like for example Forza 4 by Microsoft Studios.

The wheel features 16-bit performance allowing for more than 65,000 possible values in steering control making for a very accurate representation, with a metal sequential paddle shifter to handle all the gear changes, making sure you don’t miss a beat.
It also features a Manettino® dial like on the real Ferrari wheel.

The structure is made from metal, and is fully adjustable in both length and height to suit any gamer both small and tall, and different seating arrangements. With the base weighing in at more than 10kg, it certainly isn’t going to be moving anywhere fast, unlike you on the race track of course!
The wheel itself is a 7/10 scale replica, at 11.2 inches in diameter.

The 2 metal pedals attached to the Ferrari Cockpit offer a long-range of travel, which is inspired by the shape on the real Ferrari car, with the brake pedal also offering increasing resistance as you push down, just like the real thing!

Stefano Saporetti, Head of Licensing at Ferrari S.p.A has this to say:

“Our work with Thrustmaster shows both companies’ commitment to our shared values, namely a dedication to innovation and quality. This product brings its unique concept, with the emotional impact of Ferrari, right into users’ living rooms, allowing them to enjoy racing in a very immersive way.”

It couldn’t be easier to connect either, as the device is simply plug and play, and finding room for it shouldn’t be a problem either as it is fully foldable, and also comes with carrying handle.

The Ferrari Cockpit 458 Italia Edition features:

1) A metal structure that is fully adjustable in length and height
2) Foldable with carrying handle for quick and easy storage
3) Wide, weighted base (total weight of more than 10 kg) for optimal stability
4) Streamlined “Musetto” body in the style of the Ferrari 458 Scuderia Black
5) An ultra-precise wheel, featuring 16-bit precision (more than 65,000 values on the wheel’s steering)
6) Sequential Up & Down paddle shifter crafted of metal, for Ferrari GT-style driving
7) Metal pedals with long-range of travel, inspired by the shape of the pedals on the Ferrari car
8) Brake pedal with progressive resistance
9) Manettino® dial: lets you change settings directly while driving in the game
10) XXL realistic wheel: 28 cm in diameter!
11) Grips with rubber texture for optimal comfort
12) A headset connector lets you chat online

The Ferrari Cockpit Italia 458 edition for Xbox 360 and PC has a suggested retail price of $299 US dollars, which converts to £190 in the UK, but expect it to be around the £200 mark if not higher, and should be available in September 2012.
