Isn’t making the DS version of the game a mini-game collection kind of lazy?
Starting today (July 19th) Ubisoft has released the Smurfs 2 video game, a movie licensed game obviously based on the Smurfs 2. The game is out on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Wii U as well as on the Nintendo DS.
The console version of the Smurfs 2 video game is an action adventure game with platforming and will have you taking control of one of the nine Smurfs as they have to explore 30 levels in six different locations taken from the film including Paris.

You know maybe attacking little blue people with bright blue lightining that may camouflage them isn’t a good idea
Along with areas taken from the movie you’ll also get to explore locations exclusive to the games like the Spooky Woods, Arctic Tundra and the Lava Jungle.
Out of the nine available Smurfs five of them will have to be unlocked first. The reason you’ll get to choose from four Smurfs at the start is because the entire game is playable in up to four-player co-op or five if you own the Wii U version.
The Wii U version of the Smurfs 2 video game allows the fifth player to play as a Clockwork Smurf who can help everyone out as well as give out special items.
Why can’t the fifth player play as another Smurf by any chance like say one of the 20 other Smurfs that you collect during the game and send to the Smurf Village HUB.
Collecting the 20 other Smurfs isn’t the only thing you’ll have to do however because you’ll also have to go up 12 different type of enemies as well as 6 bosses including returning characters Azrael as well as newcomers called the Naughties.
With only 12 different enemies and 30 levels to explore the game is running the risk of the enemies becoming repetitive to quickly.
The reason why I’ve referred to all of the details so far as being on the console version is because the Nintendo DS version instead of being an action-adventure platformer is for some reason a mini-game collection with an interactive storytelling book.
