After a long seven months of hard work, the Vanishing of Ethan Carter finally has revealed the first screen shots for the new horror game. The screen shots show images from the first minutes of the game and feature actual game play since the game does not have any cut scenes.

TVoEC_ScreenShot_04The Vanishing of Ethan Carter features the protagonist of Paul Prospero, a detective who investigates the occult who receives a creepy letter from Ethan Carter, a boy that is in danger for his life. When Paul arrives at the boy’s home in Red Creek Valley he discovers things have escalated to worse conditions. Ethan has gone missing after a brutal murder which Paul soon learns may not be the only one. Paul will use his instincts and special abilities to find the missing boy and solve the murder.

The game is played in first person and allows the player to explore and interact with the environment to look for clues. Paul’s supernatural abilities allow him witness the final moments of the murders committed. With more clues discovered along the way will allow Paul to see more of the scene. The developer wishes to make a game that engages the player into the story and their attempt to keep the player grounded in the world they are exploring.

The team wishes to describe the game as a ““weird fiction” horror, where the game is focused more on the mood and atmosphere of the ares you explore and the personal story for the characters. The world is a combination of disturbing environments and creepy set pieces, a game created for adult gamers. The game will feature no combat and allows the players to unravel the story at their own leisure.

The game is being made for PC, and the developers hope to eventually bring the game to next-gen consoles. With the game in full production it will only be several months before the game is planned to be finish. The developers is the talented small eight man team known as the Astronauts, founded in 2012 by the ex-owners of People Can Fly, creators of the Bulletstorm and Painkiller franchises.
