Crytek’s free-to-play military shooter, Warface has received the 2012 Gamescom 2012 award for best Social/Casual/Online Game. The award, which was determined by an independent panel of international judges, was one of just seven official Gamescom awards given out. The Gamescom awards seek to pay homage to the best games and products which are premiered at the show.
CEO and founder of Crytek Cevat Terli spoke about the award commenting that:
We’re excited that Warface has been recognised with this award.” … “At its core, Warface is a new social first-person shooter experience that invites players and their friends of all levels to come together and discover Crytek quality for free. This award underlines what we saw on the show floor in Cologne; that Warface is being viewed favorably by everyone looking for something new in online multiplayer gaming.”
Warface is available for the PC but is only currently available in Russia. However despite this, the game already boasts two million registered users and has broken all player concurrency records within four weeks of its launch. Warface has also recently won ‘Best Game’ and ‘Best Graphics’ prizes at the Russian KRI Awards.
Warface is scheduled to enter its beta testing phase in North America, Europe, Turkey, Australia and New Zealand later this year. At launch Warface will be accessed via social hub GFACE, which will provide players with a new and exciting way to interact with other gamers as they play and discover the PC game’s challenging competitive and co-operative online multiplayer modes.
Warface is an original military first person shooter developed by Crytek.The game is set in an expansive universe set sometime in the recent future. Crytek have promised that Warface offers ‘a cinematic experience’ which includes next generation visuals, an impressive AI system and highly demanding in-game physics.
