Xbox One Release Date Announced

Xbox One Release Date Announced

It’s official: the Xbox One release date will be November 22nd.

Microsoft left it a little late to announce the release date, but finally they’ve let the cat out of the bag. Microsoft’s highly anticipated console will first be released in 13 key markets on November 22nd, including the UK and USA. November 22nd is something of a historic date, with the Xbox 360 being released on the same date 7 years ago in 2006. It was also announced that the Xbox One has now entered full production to get as many console built for the launch day.

Xbox One Day One pre-orders have sold out at a lot of retailers across both the UK and the USA, with sales dwarfing the Xbox 360 pre-orders from seven years ago. However, Microsoft have announced that they’re not stopping there and that new batches of Day One consoles have been released for pre-order, though these are likely to sell out very quickly, especially after the announcement that FIFA 14 is included as a free download with the Day One editions of the console.

Microsoft also announced improvements to the CPU of the console, which has been increased from 1.6 GHZ to 1.75 GHZ. This is an increase of 10%, on top of the recent 6% that Microsoft had already announced. What does this mean in practical terms? Basically, it means that developers have got even more power to exploit in the titles, making the player’s experience even more impressive.

The news comes just hours after EA’s Chief Operating Officer, Peter Moore, stated that he thought Microsoft ought to ‘cough up the date’ of the Xbox One’s release. The PS4 release date had been announced by Sony at Gamescom in mid-August. It will hit shelves in the US on 15th November, before being released in other markets such as the UK on 29th November.

So with just over two months left before the eighth-generation of video gaming is well and truly upon us, which console will you be getting in November?
