YetiZen, a major contributor to the game development community and the organizer of the San Francisco Game Developer’s Workshop, kicked off the YetiZen Innovation Lab. Based in the bustling center of San Francisco, the 20,000 square foot community center prioritizes advancements in all fields of the gaming community.
The YetiZen Innovation Lab serves four major purposes for the game community. First off, networking. Throughout the day the Innovation lab offers game developers a place where they can work together, interact with one another, and build more stable game businesses. As an added bonus, the space is free for anyone in the game industry to use.
The second service provided by the Lab is acting as a host to a variety of events. YetiZen does host its own events, but that doesn’t restrict anyone else from doing so. Anyone organizing gaming events is allowed to use the event space. The YetiZen Innovation Lab is already serving as a host to meetings, such as the Bay Area Video Game Development Meetup and the SF Game Monetization Meetup as well as many others.
Third, YetiZen will serve as an official provider for video content of all its events. For those that can’t make the trip all the way to San Francisco, they can catch up on everything that happened on Twitch TV, Game Dev.net, and other online channels.
And last but not least, YetiZen Innovation Lab is the home to the YetiZen Accelerator program. From over 700 enthusiastic game startup applicants a year, YetiZen picks the top 1.5%.
“We have been working hard to launch this collaborative space, the YetiZen Innovation Lab, since the beginning of this year. We are excited to finally open our doors to the public, and look forward to seeing the synergy created between developers working side by side, co-playing, and learning together,” commented Japheth Dillman, CCO and co-founder of YetiZen.
“The YetiZen Innovation Lab, represents a new era for indie game developers. Not only will it allow indie game developers anywhere in the world to learn from the best in class on how to build successful game businesses wherever they are but it will also raise all ships by helping indie game entrepreneurs connect with each other to better leverage resources and talent within the game development community,” said Sana Choudary, CEO and co-founder of YetiZen.
“We are excited to support indie game development through incubation initiatives like YetiZen’s Innovation Lab and accelerator program, “said the GM GameStop Digital Ventures, Chris Petrovic. “This furthers our commitment to the indie community similar to our development outreach work with Kongregate and GameStop’s PC Downloads platform.”
