Thoughts on Zoo Park Games?

If you were to look up Zoo Park Games online your search is going to bring up a ton of these games being advertised for casual gamers and I honestly have to ask why has this genre (okay it’s not a genre but still) been abandoned by most gamers.

You can tell that this is a Facebook game because of the charge symbol

You can tell that this is a Facebook game because of the charge symbol

Back in 2004  the only Zoo Park game that doesn’t feel like it was targeting children or girls was titled Zoo Tycoon. These games are just RollerCoaster Tycoon but instead of a theme park you had to run a zoo.

Zoo Tycoon did eventually appear on Nintendo DS.

Nowadays however the easiest Zoo Park game you can find happens to be a Facebook series called Zoo World and it’s basically just Farmville in a zoo.

Yep definetly a DS game

Yep definitely a DS game.

Also I can’t be the only one that finds it a little weird that if you were to search for Zoo Park Games there then is a suggestion to add “for girls onto the end of your search. Okay fine I get that you’re bound to have baby animals in a zoo game and that yes they are cute but isn’t it a little stereotypical that the search for these games has for girls on the end of them or am I just making a big deal out of nothing here? I don’t know I just find that a little weird I guess.

To answer my own question I like to think that there’s a place for these games for a bigger market other than just for casual gamers. Yeah the genre will never be as big as RollerCoaster Tycoon was but it’s a shame to see it fall to the side. Maybe this is just what happens to trends they just  fall to one side.

So what’s your opinion on Zoo Park Games, should they stay where they are or should they make a return?
