3ds Highlights from the latest Nintendo Direct November 2013

Nintendo Direct November 2013

You could say that there’s a Link between this episode and a major upcoming Nintendo release

Well it’s that time of the month again for Nintendo to broadcast their monthly Nintendo Direct show. So with that in mind here’s the latest highlights for Nintendo 3DS news from Nintendo Direct because they barely mentioned the Wii U.

Starting with the piece of news everybody has been waiting for, starting December you can now link your 3DS and Wii U together by registering your Nintendo Network IDs to combine both of your eShop accounts together.

This means that you can now make use of your left over Wii U cash on your 3DS and the other way around. On top of that gamers who don’t own a Wii U can now make their own Nintendo Network ID’s. This new service will be made available to all 3DS and Wii U owners through a Systems Update this December.

Later this month you are going to be able to use your 3DS to watch videos on Youtube as long as you have internet access anyway. You’ll be able to use the bottom screen to search through videos while watching a video on the top screen.

Now that I’ve got that out of the way let’s talk about Nintendo’s biggest release this Christmas Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

This month’s Nintendo Direct showed us a brand new trailer for A Link Between Worlds and it definitely revealed some interesting things. Let’s start with the biggest reveal which is how Link gained his new ability to turn 2D.

It turns out an unnamed villain who looks like a cross-dressing Gannon trapped Link and a princess (probably Zelda) using a magical picture frame. Only in the world of Nintendo.   Link’s escape isn’t shown during the trailer but now he must use his new power to save two worlds which he can access through cracks in the wall. The new power drains from a gauge which is also used for other powers too like a triple shot but at least it recharges.

It's almost as if the latest entry in the Legend of Zelda series is a big deal

On top of that the trailer also shows off a summonable witch, a boss fight against a creature made of darkness and the games Streetpass feature. When you pass someone their Link will appear in your game as a Shadow Link and a NPC will tell you when this happens and where.

In other non-Legend of Zelda related news  sees the release of an English demo for the upcoming RPG Bravely Default. The new demo takes place in its own unique side story so now there’s even more reason to give it a try. Along with that any items gained in the demo can be brought into the full game which is due to release December 6th.

Bravely Default features turn-based combat with different  abilities to Bravely Second which freezes time.

Players who purchase the game at ShopTo can get the Deluxe Collector’s Edition which comes with the game, Agnes figurine, deluxe artbook, 34 AR Cards and a CD with the original soundtrack.

Nintendo Direct also revealed that February 14th 2014 will see the release of the latest edition of Inazuma Eleven 3 series Team Orge Attacks! In the latest title you’ll be controlling the great-grandson of Mark Evans, Canon Evans as you aim to take the footballing world championship.

untitledOn top of this you can connect the title up with the previous two games Lightning Bolt and Bomb Blast through a feature called Orge Premium Link. You will receive special items and characters that are  not available in-game.

Since Mario is the company’s biggest mascot it should come as no surprise that there’s some Mario news which in this case comes in the form of Mario Party: Island Paradise. The latest title includes over 80 new mini-games, some of which include the handhelds motion controls across seven game boards.

On top of that 4 3DS gamers will be able to take part in the games multiplayers with only one copy of the game through Download Play, you can also engage other players in various Street Pass competitions.

Along with a new demo from Bravely Default the Nintendo eShop also sees the release of Jet Rocket 2: The Wrath of Taikai. You again control the planetary inspector Jett Rocket who has got himself in trouble due to the return of his archrival Kaiser Taikai. Using your jetpack you can explore the home planet of the Power Plant.

Finally speaking of the Nintendo eShop, 2014 will see the release of Nintendo Pocket Football Club, a new football management title which gives you full control of your own club. And by full control that means everything from the emblem to the kit as well as the usual staples of training and tactics during the match.

Speaking of matches along with a single-player you can also take on your friends in wireless matches as well as other players across Europe.

So that’s most of the latest Nintendo 3DS news from Nintendo Direct as well as a little about the Wii U but don’t forget to check out the video itself above.
